Money is Manure...Think of the cost to remove that manure, literally

Posted by Squatters Butterfly on Tuesday, February 28, 2012
I have heard of the gist of this Bill but did not realize Monsanto was the one pushing the Bill.   I was also at a meeting here in Exline last year that was held by a local group who are against Hog Confinement facilities.   They are huge hog producers for food consumption.
Although Iowa has always been and still is today, the largest hog producer in the country, big corporations are trying to make it illegal for people to protest and restrict hog confinements from moving into their areas.   We have one just about 4 miles south of here right near the state line and two more a few miles further south just across the state line, in Missouri.
You never see an Iowa family farmer producing hogs anymore.   These big companies produce a huge number of hogs in confined special built buildings.   They have problems getting rid of the thousands of  gallons of waste manure.   Every once in a while on the state news, it will be reported where a company has had a spill and the manure has leached into a water system killing fish and making it so they can use it for drinking water.
The state of Iowa tries to fight such encroaching legislation.   Iowa also tries to prevent big meat companies from controlling the production of cattle, their slaughter and sale of meat.   Those companies want to own and control it all.    The big meat producers, want to be able to control it all, so they can regulate the price.  I said years ago, when big business gets control of the food industry, they will raise the prices so their share holders will make money.   I think that is why bacon is $5.00 a pound!
The same thing is done now with poultry with chicken production and egg production.  It is all big business running it, not small farmers anymore.   That is why eggs are two dollars or more a dozen!
A person who spoke at the local meeting held here last year in Exline regarding corporation infringement on people in rural America's rights, has a father-in-law and mother-in-law who live right here in Exline.
He and his wife only live about 25 miles south of here down, in Missouri.   He is an advocate who has testified on subjects like this representing rural America before the U.S. Congress and travels to other rural parts of the country to help them get the word out about the under handed dealing of big business and their effects on the food we consume.
One of the biggest seed in companies in the United States that specializes in hybrid seed production, is an original Iowa company called Pioneer Hybrid Seed Company.   Back in the 1990’s my first wife Jolene,  had a cousin who lived and worked for the DuPont Co., in Wilmington, Delaware.   They sent him out here on a business trip to talk to the Pioneer Seed Company.   While he was here we went up and got him and had him down this way for a day or two.   As it turns out, he was out here because DuPont was in the process of buying out the Pioneer Seed Co.   Now, DuPont owns them.   Is is no longer an Iowa owned company!
Currently, our airways on television are full of local television commercials promoting different kinds of chemical fertilizers, herbicides (weed Killers) and Corn and Soybean seed production companies including Pioneer, because that is big business here in Iowa.   Iowa is number one in corn production in the country and number one or two in soybean production in competition with Illinois each year.
In clicking on the line inside your E-mail  about the farmer who had two wives die of cancer, it just brings up the Monsanto take over information.   Here locally on the two mile road that leads from the main highway into the town of Exline, in the last 10 years or so, at least people five people who have lived along that road have died of cancer, and all but one were relatives of mine.
The man who lived in a house out at the junction of the two roads where you turn to come into Exline, he died of cancer.   My uncle Donald had two wives die of cancer.   My cousin Richard's wife died of cancer (He died a couple years later from a brain aneurism) and my wife Jolene died of cancer and we live on the same road right in the middle of town here.   So, that is pretty scary.
This whole rea, for at least 100 miles in many directions gets its’ drinking water from the largest man made lake in the state of Iowa, in the northwestern part of our county called Lake Rathbun.    Even though the Army Corps of Engineers owns and maintains so many acres of land around the entire lake, it has been suggested in the past that nearby chemicals on farm fields do leach into that lake and it could be a possible cause of cancer in this area.   Although, the water company denies it.
So, it seems no matter what regular people do anymore, big government and big corporations art trying to take away our Rights.  It is all kind of scary!
Well you have a wonderful day.
