Don't Believe Everything You Think Book Review By By Ho Kheong Tan "Avid reader" (Singapore)

March 1, 2012
In summary, the common mistakes committed by the general public could be grouped into 6 areas.

1.We prefer to believe and rely on anecdotal stories when statistics showed otherwise.

2. We believe in coincidence rather than the role of chance. When you flipped a coin ten times and it landed 10 times with a head, we tend to become superstitious.

3. We misconceive our world. No two person sees the world the same way. We can see and hear things that don't really exist. This could happen to a group o...

"Don't Believe Everything You Think" Book Review

March 1, 2012
Copied from a Review on Amazon.com By

One of my favorite quotes is from Robert Wright's "Moral Animal:" "...human beings are a species splendid in their array of moral equipment, tragic in their propensity to misuse it, and pathetic in their ignorance of the misuse." Although this book is not about the morality of our decision-making, it is completely about how we delude ourselves about ourselves, our situations, and others.

Kida vividly illustrates these tendencies with numerous examples that demonstrate how easily we can be fooled into believing something that isn't true. In a complex society where success - in all facets of life - often requires the ability to evaluate the validity of many conflicting claims, the critical-thinking skills examined in this informative and engaging book...

Monsanto helps America’s Farmers put food on our tables. See how.

That statement seems so funny now after all this reading

Oh well the farming topic is interesting.  I believe Jeff has a point, with so many things killing us, we don't need another program to test  for all these things.

Ignorance Is Bliss

See Its a Blessing that manufacturing moved overseas. ;

LEED and Immortality “superweeds”. Monsanto transformed crop farming with the development of Roundup herbicide, which kills practically anything with roots but is otherwise quite benign (oxymoron alert).

March 1, 2012

The bottom line: there are tradeoffs with just about everything.  Likewise, LEED is not without flaws due to a nuisance called reality. This recent report by Environment and Human Health, Inc. seems to indicate LEED certified buildings are as dangerous as catching a falling knife while standing on a mixture of burning coals and broken glass in a cloud of radon and asbestos dust while bathing in beams of UV and high energy gamma radiation.  Good grief.  What do they expect?  LEED buildings to ...

How do I find out if I have a problem with radiation from slag?

Residents throughout Southeast Idaho are invited to participate in a voluntary program conducted jointly by the District Health Department, FMC, Monsanto, and EPA. The program helps residents find out if phosphorus slag in their homes and business properties is causing unacceptably high expos...

This week on the Today Show they mentioned that the state of Iowa is one of the main states to have cancer causing Radon Gas.    It leaches into buildings out of the soil.    It is a cancer causing, radioactive gas that has no smell, and can only be detected with specialized test
